FAQs
Gurl, take our word for it, all styles of pearl pendants are popular! It’s really hard to pick favourites when they’re all so lush, so we’ll just list them here and you can decide which pearl pendant you prefer.
- South Sea pearl pendants – These large, lustrous beauties will have you falling in love. You’ll have to choose if you prefer the whiter shade of Australian South Sea Pearls or the grey/black Tahitian pearls.
- Freshwater pearl pendants – Precious pearls that come in a range of lustrous colours from white, pink or a lavender hue.
- Baroque pearl pendants – The irregular shapes of Baroque pearls means that each one is truly unique.
- White pearl pendants – Sometimes it’s easier to choose pearls by the colour and you can’t go wrong with classic white pearl pendants.
- Pearl cage pendants – Hoskings customers love these cage-like filigree frame pendants that encase lustrous South Sea pearls.
- Pearl pendants with cubic zirconia – Add a little pizazz to your pearl pendants!
- Pearl and diamond pendants – It’s hard to imagine a more fabulous pairing than diamonds and pearls.
Many of Hoskings customers ask if it’s ok to wear pearl pendants every day, and our answer is, yes - as long as you take care of them. Pearls are naturally delicate so it’s important to avoid wearing them if they’re likely to get scratched or damaged. For example, we recommend you remove your pearl pendant before sporting activities or going in the pool or sea. And try to minimise exposure to harsh chemicals like perfumes or body lotions that could dull their lustre.
We recommend that you get them inspected at your local Hoskings jewellers every year to make sure they stay in tip-top shape.
When deciding how to choose the right chain for pearl pendants, Hoskings jewellers recommend that you consider size and weight of the pearl to ensure that the chain can adequately support it. Generally, the thicker the chain, the stronger it will be. You’ll also need to choose your preferred length of the chain. Our blog post “Know about necklaces and chains” will help you decide what chain length is best for you.
Some larger pearls pendants have an enhancer which is a type of loop that has a hinge that allow it to be opened and closed making it perfect for an omega chain.
Once you know what size chain you prefer, the next consideration is what metal will suit the pearl best. At Hoskings, you can choose from18ct white gold pearl pendants, 9ct yellow gold pearl pendants, 9ct two/three tone gold pearl pendants, sterling silver pink or gold plated pearl pendants, or sterling silver pearl pendants.

- Remove your pearl pendants before taking part in any strenuous activity where they could get damaged or lost.
- Avoid harsh chemicals, like perfumes, lotions or fake tan.
- Don’t expose your pearl pendants to excessive heat or prolonged sunlight, which might cause them to fade or become discoloured.
- Wipe your pearl gently with a soft, lint-free cloth after each wear to reduce oil/grime build up.
- Store your pendant in a soft pouch or jewellery box to prevent scratches. Avoid airtight environments which might dry your pearls out.
